2024 Toyota Tundra vs Toyota Tacoma
New Toyota Truck Comparison: Tacoma vs Tundra
Updated in 2022, the 2024 Toyota Tundra continues to evolve, adding serious and seriously fun aspects to its packaging. Meanwhile, the 2024 Toyota Tacoma is an all new model.
How do these two compare? Take a look.

Packaging
With the 2024 model year, the Tacoma has added more comfortable seating and more standards. Like the Tundra, it has a smart 8-inch touchscreen that can be upgraded to an even smarter 14-inch touchscreen system.
Tacomas lead the midsize class in several ways. Interior storage space is superior due to the Xtra Cab’s cargo hold and features like the folding front passenger seat. Tacomas are one of the few midsize pickup trucks that still offer the larger 6-foot bed.
Handsome and strong, Toyota Tundras have long led their class in a variety of ways. These range from cutting edge infotainment, such as the Hey Toyota system, to formidable off-roading equipment. You won’t find standard adaptive cruise control on most rivals. Motortrend calls it an all-around choremaster.
Like the Tundra, the Toyota Tacoma has a large suite of Toyota Safety Sense features. Both Toyota trucks are ready to help the driver in a variety of situations. From forward collision dangers to side collision scenarios, the two trucks work to make you safer with active warnings, auto braking, and steering assists.
Both trucks continue to offer value pricing with affordable models that undercut the higher prices for other brands. As high quality products, both trucks appeal to shoppers who want more for their automotive dollar.

Powertrains
There are now an assortment of ways to power a Toyota Tacoma, but they all rely on a turbocharged 2.4-L inline-four as their base component. This engine generates a healthy 228 horsepower that is controlled by an 8-speed automatic.
If you want more power, you can opt for the higher- output inline four turbo. If paired with a manual transmission, it moves the needle to 270 horsepower and 310 lb-ft. If paired with the automatic, it generates 278 horsepower and 317 lb-ft. When this engine is mated to an electric motor, output rises to 320 horses and 465 lb-ft.
If you step over the 2024 Toyota Tundra you can find a twin-turbocharged 3.5L V6. This generates 358 horsepower and 405 lb-ft of torque for SR models. SR5 and higher models get this twin turbo with an output of 389 hp and 479 lb-ft. With a hybrid electric motor, that number rises to 427 horsepower and 583 lb-ft.
Tacomas have either an 8-speed automatic or a 6-speed manual transmission. Tundras have a 10-speed automatic transmission. With either Toyota truck, the trim levels start out with rear-wheel drive and optional four-wheel drive. To learn more about Tundra trim levels, check out this new Tundra review.

Off-Road Choices
When it comes to off-roading Toyota makes it possible to find a price point and trail package at many levels. The benefit of any and all of this equipment is that it is covered under your limited warranty unlike a lift kit bought online and installed elsewhere.
Tundras continue to excel with the TRD Pro which has every aspect tuned for the trail. Otherwise, you can go for trail upgrades and even choose a 3-inch lift kit, installed at the factory. TRD Sport and TRD Off-road packages are available on the SR5. You can also get a Limited or Platinum TRD Off-Road edition.
With its own long list of trail-equipped trim levels, Tacomas offer interesting adventure choices for the 2024 model year. TRD PreRunners have underbody protection as well as the higher output twin-turbo V6. Meanwhile, the TRD Off-Road provides 11 inches of ground clearance and more trail equipment.
The newest choice is the Tacoma Trailhunter. It is slotted right before the trail-blazing TRD Pro with its special off-road equipment. This new Tacoma review can give you more information about the Toyota midsize truck’s trim levels and features.
Conclusion
Whether it’s the most powerful or the most affordable among them, the Tacoma and Tundra trucks represent a group of trucks that are hard to beat.
