2023 Toyota Crown Review | New Hybrid Sedan
The 2023 Toyota Crown is a new hybrid sedan like few others. From its standard all-wheel drivetrain to its remarkable performance, this is a hybrid that driving enthusiasts will love.
This represents a restoration of the Crown nameplate, but it is in no way stuck in the past. This is one ride that has been reimagined from the road up. Keep scrolling to learn about this all new ride.
A Welcoming Cabin
Creating a handsome look, a rich woven fabric is combined with Softex upholstery. On the dash, there is a large touch screen with the Toyota Multimedia System. Design elements include a thin illuminated control panel beneath the screen. Along the lower row, Toyota puts all the important switches.
The Crown XLE has an 8-way power-adjustable driver’s chair and front passenger seat. These can slide, adjust height, recline or tilt. Drivers have lumbar support, and both have power-heat capability. As a performance ride, the rear seats have bolster support as well as ample cushioning.
Dual zone climate controls are standard along with a 12.3-inch color multi-information display. Drivers will find a vertical-style Qi charger on their side. USB ports are on both rows.
Limited and Platinum Trim Levels
With leather seats and a panoramic roof, the Crown Limited trim level has a luxury cabin. The typical black color choice can be exchanged for macadamia or a black and chestnut combination. The Crown Toyota front seats are power-heated and power-ventilated. Back row has power-heat capability.
Digital Key, which comes with a Remote Connect subscription, is standard at this level. The JBL audio system surrounds you with 11 speakers. Ambient LED lighting brings a warm glow to the footwells and makes it easy to find the USB ports, door handles and cup holders in the dark.
The Platinum grade is outfitted much like the Limited. However it has the top hybrid powertrain and related performance features to make the most of its power.
Performance and Capability
While all-wheel drive is standard, the 2023 Toyota Crown offers shoppers a choice of two hybrid systems. XLE and Limited grades can earn up to 38 mpg.
Platinum models have a 340-horsepower output. This HYBRID MAX powertrain combines electric motors with a 2.4-liter turbo. It is controlled by a six-speed automatic transmission.
An adaptive variable suspension reduces bumps by controlling the damping force according to conditions. The keys are variable oil pressure shock absorbers and a linear solenoid type actuator. Test drives are available at Earnhardt Toyota of this full sized hybrid sedan.
Athletic Build and Ride Quality
The car’s athletic build starts with the new high-strength TNGA-K platform. Compared to the Camry, these new Toyota sedans are almost 4 inches taller. On the one hand, it makes it easy to enter and exit. On the other hand, this gives the Crown crossover road visibility for the driver.
The front strut suspension and rear multi-link set-up are specially tuned to match the new platform. While this set-up helps reduce the road’s bumps, noise is reduced by well-insulated wheel wells and improved tire-wheel construction.
Noise insulation is strategic throughout the vehicle, and it is aided by the ample body sealing applied throughout the sedan’s construction. Each area was enhanced with extra care. For instance, a sound absorbing pad blocks the engine bay from the cabin.
Exterior
The look starts with its extra tall “lift-up” design. Toyota further accents it with striking extra-large wheels, sculpted lines, and a flowing silhouette.
Sporty colors are available for the Crown. These include Supersonic Red, Magnetic Gray Metallic, and Heavy Metal as well as a striking Black or Oxygen White.
A bi-tone option covers the hood, roof and trunk in one continuous black swath. It can be paired with the red, white, or Heavy Metal colors. There’s also a special Bronze Age body color available only if paired.
Limited models wear 21-inch, 10-spoke alloy wheels in a dark metallic color. These trim levels have multibeam LED headlights and rain-sensing windshield wipers.
Safety and Driver Assistance
Safety features include the latest driver assistance systems. These include adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning and related autobrake.
On Limited models, Toyota adds intelligence clearance sonar and a rear cross traffic autobrake. The Platinum trim level has a birds-eye camera to watch for dangers while parking. `
