2025 Toyota Land Cruiser Review

To create the new Land Cruiser, engineers worked from the ground up. The result is a robust and sophisticated design.  A next-generation frame and TNGA-F platform work together to improve handling and ride comfort.  

This ride is overbuilt for maximum strength. This makes it highly capable of off-roading in rough terrain or pulling a big load up a mountain incline.

Retro-inspired headlamps flank the iconic “TOYOTA” heritage grille on the Land Cruiser 1958 trim level. Rectangular LED headlamps and RIGID color-selectable fog lights change the look for the Land Cruiser grade (LC trim level).   

A power liftgate isn’t the only asset. Integrated liftgate lights have been added for 2025. Early morning and late night activities are easier when you can see everything in the cargo hold.

For operating small appliances or tools, there’s a 120V household-style plug accessible in the cargo hold. It’s easy to bring your gear with 46.2 cubic feet of space behind the second row and 82.2 cubic feet behind the first row.

Remote Connect can enable a Digital Key system. An app can start the vehicle and get it cooled off before your drive on Arizona’s hottest days. A card-sized smart key is another convenient way to enjoy fast access to your Land Cruiser 1958.

With the large number of features on the 1958 trim level, the Land Cruiser grade has a solid platform on which to build. It upgrades the premium cloth upholstery to a more refined SofTex upholstery on power-ventilated front seats.

A true driver cockpit features a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster behind the power-adjustable steering wheel and a 12.3-inch touchscreen. Music surrounds the cabin with the 10-speaker sound system.

The driver cockpit adds a digital rearview mirror and a Head-up Display (HUD). Audiophiles will love the 14-speaker JBL premium audio system. Toyota also adds to more USB-C ports, placing them in the cargo area for your convenience.

The Land Cruiser is built for anything that the road or rough terrain could throw at it.  Its turbocharged powertrain and strong body allow it to tow as much as 6,000 pounds. Toyota includes a trailer brake controller on all trim levels.

Drivers command 326 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque, complements of the Toyota iForce Max performance hybrid powertrain. An electric motor is strategically placed between engine and transmission. This bell-housing placement increases reliability, efficiency and performance. 

Fuel efficiency is 22 mpg city and 25 mpg highway, beating typical 4x4 SUVs of this size and power. This efficiency is better than the typical Range Rover (16/21 mpg), lower-powered Jeep Wrangler (18/24 mpg) and lower-powered Ford Bronco (20/21 mpg).

The full-time all-wheel drivetrain has a two-speed transfer case. This smart device knows how to assist the driver in many different situations. An automatic limited-slip differential is an on-road aid that improves traction.

Adventure seekers can enjoy peace of mind while taking to the trail in this smart off-road SUV.  All models have locking center and rear differentials that reduce unnecessary wheel spin and improve traction.
